What was a dream for many finally became a reality during the COVID-19 pandemic. The way we work has changed forever, and for lots of people, there’s likely no going back.
While it may be very enjoyable holding Zoom meetings in your pajamas and being able to hang out with our furry friends all day, working from home does have its challenges.
Let’s take a quick look at a few of them and suggest some ways you can overcome them.
Communication and Collaboration
Communication is hard enough when we’re face-to-face, but it gets even harder when you work from home.
There are lots of technological solutions that can overcome this particular challenge. For example, Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom are good examples.
Loneliness
When you work from home there is a distinct lack of social interaction which makes you feel more lonely and isolated. Loneliness is not good for your mental health and physical well-being.
Overcome loneliness by planning social activities outside work, organizing regular video calls with family and friends, or working in a coworking space.
Inability to Unplug
When you work from home the lines between working and living can get very blurred. In addition, technology makes it very difficult to switch off once your working day is over.
Why not create a dedicated workspace in your home to help create a boundary between work and personal life? Also, switch off your smartphone and other digital devices when you’ve finished working for the day.
Remote working is here to stay. It does have its challenges but there are benefits too which far outweigh any downsides.
