RRB NTPC 2019 Syllabus:
The first stage of the exam is the multiple choice question constituted test which is a computer-based test. It is the part of the process where the candidate’s knowledge and mental ability is tested. The second phase of the process will be Physical Efficiency Test or simply the physical test, which is merely the test to check the physicality of the aspirants. Candidates who pass these stages successfully finally have to go through the process of document verification. The documents are vetted through and through multiple times to make sure that the candidate is actually fit for the position and does not have a shaky history.
Both the stages are computer-based so nothing is written but the pattern is multiple choice question. The subjects that will constitute these questions are
- General Intelligence or Reasoning.
- General Science.
- General Awareness or Current Affairs.
Mathematics and General Science Questions will be from Class 10( CBSE ) Syllabus.
|SL No.||Name of the Post||Number of Vacancy|
|1||Commercial Apprentice (CA)||-|
|2||Traffic Apprentice (TA)||-|
|3||Enquiry Cum Reservation Clerk (ECRC)||-|
|5||Junior Accounts Assistant Cum Typist (JAA)||-|
|6||Senior Clerk Cum Typist||-|
|7||Assistant Station Master (ASM)||-|
|9||Senior Time Keeper||-|
Anyone aspiring to secure a post in the railways’ department via the RRB NTPC exam must qualify both the mental and physical stages of the testing process. Physical test will be a very essential component for candidates to get the jobs they desire, it may even cause them to disqualify. The preparation process for the two staged mains, as per the syllabus is from Class 10th. Reading thoroughly, the Maths and Science textbooks must be enough of material to help you gain enough knowledge for the MCQ based test.
To stay updated on current affairs, reading through the newspapers regularly and watching the news must be enough. If you still think you need more, you should read through the latest almanac. It will give you a quick update of what happened in the past year.
For reasoning or general intelligence, practice logic/reasoning based questions. The ability to reason is not based off your memory so you don’t have to remember stuff like south other subjects so you just have to understand how things work. Once you do, you’ll never forget.
A huge deciding factor out of all other factors is the Physical Test. The requirements for passing it are gender segregated –
The physical test requires the male candidates to carry a weight of 35 kg and run 100 meters of distance in a span of 2 mins.
The male candidates have to run 1000 meter or 1 kilometer in 4 mins 15 seconds in a one go. ( This enables the instructor to test the candidate’s stamina and resilience )
Similarly, female candidates will have to carry a weight of 20 kilos and run 100 meters of distance within 2 mins without dropping the weight in a single run. ( This exercise enables the instructor to assess the aspirant’s strength and stamina )
Covering 1000 meters within 5 mins 20 seconds in a single sprint.
These physical tests are not too tough to pass compared to the physical tests required for other exams like NDA etc. This is arguably the most difficult part of the RRB NTPC examination and evaluation process. It is crucial to embark on the physical fitness of the aspirants and make sure that they can be trusted with the physically challenging parts of the job.
The most sought-after jobs amongst the multiple types of vacancies are the clerical jobs. The reason behind this is that they are the least complicated type of job in all of the offered positions and they pay just as good of a salary. They also give you all the other benefits like medical, pensionary and insurances etc. Most aspirants are eligible for these jobs so the competition for these is very close-cropped.
Once the candidates have secured the required marks for their desired position, they are called in for a document check. The candidate is required to present forth they’re all-around legal and identification documents like – Aadhaar card, pan card, passport/voter ID, address proof, age proof, caste certificate ( if applicable ) and any other documents if applicable. Once the vetting process is run through completely and the fact that the candidate is completely fit to take up the job in question, they are given the appointment letter.
The appointed employees are asked to report to their respective jobs within a span of a month.
All the information and updates regarding the application, requirements, vacancies, exams, results and ultimately recruitment are promptly displayed on the official website of the Indian Railways.

Railway Final NTPC Result Status
The Railway NTPC results are being anticipated wildly across the nation ads the candidates hold on to their hearts in speculation of what it could be. The results were to be announced 3 months after the exams ( held in April or May ) but the results have yet to be declared on the online as well as offline platforms of RRB. It is being said that the results this year will be cutthroat due to the number of vacancies being lower than usual this year.
The reason for this has been said to be the recessive nature of elimination of jobs in the Railway department in the past year or so. However, it has not been said whether or not the vacancies will increase in the time to come.
RRB NTPC Exam Results in 2019 PDF Download
The none technical job results will be declared in the early week of the month 3 months from the commencement of the exams attributing to the occupying of over 30,000 job vacancies in the railway department. The merit list will hold the names of the people who managed to secure the posts of their choice. The exact date of the technical results are yet to be announced and are being greatly anticipated. They wouldn’t be too far off from the announcement of the non-technical results as per speculation.
RRB put up a notification which says that the examination will be held in April / May of the year 2019. It has not been announced yet when exactly this examination will be commenced. The Mains part of the NTPC which is a multiple choice question test – is held in two stages – two different question papers. Both of these exams will be exclusively computer-based and will not be available in the offline form.
RRB NTPC Mains Result Expected Date
The railways’ department posts available for taking are ASM, Goods Guard, CA, TA, JAA, and Sr. Clerk. The results for RRB NTPC Mains will show the score for the first two stages of the recruitment process, both of which are computer-based tests. The competition for these posts amongst the aspirants is very close and tight-knit which will, therefore, require the close calls and intricate inspection for the candidates by the selection committee.
Due to the leniency of the question paper, the final triumph over the competition for any post is decided by the top scoring candidate even if it is by a 0.01 point difference. This is attributed to the fact that lakhs of people appear for this examination. Each year the number of aspirants rise and so do the number of vacancies.
RRB NTPC Expected Cut Off Marks
The number of people appearing for this exam is over 3,00,00,000. Comparing this to the number of vacancies, the number of aspirants is five times the number of candidates. This clearly means that at least five candidates will grapple for each seat, making the competition that much more intense. The question paper for Mains has a sum total of 120 marks. Each question is one mark. The negative marking is 1/3 (0.33) for incorrect responses so taking a guess and depending on luck would be a risky thing.
The question paper is very easy except the reasoning section of the paper. The twisted logic based questions are known for throwing people off their game and hence need to be approached with caution. These can be mastered simply by practicing the logic deflated questions and training your mind to work through these problems in a jiffy.
